January 24, 2011 – Shane was recently selected for the Three Outstanding Young Persons award by the Hawaii Jaycees, in recognition of his success both on and off the field. The award recognizes exceptional achievements or contributions in a nominee’s chosen field, organization, community, state, or nation. The Jaycees seek nominees whose outstanding humanitarian efforts exemplify the Jaycee Creed, “Service to humanity is the best work of life.” The Three Outstanding Young Persons Award winners are then submitted to the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, for possible selection to the Ten Outstanding Young Americans, TOYA. Past TOYA honorees include: John F. Kennedy, Gerald R. Ford, Elvis Presley, Christopher Reeve, Bill Clinton, Arthur Ashe, Bruce Jenner, Peyton Manning, and Kurt Warner. Congrats to Shane and the two other awardees, Tofi Mika, Jr. and Galileo Tan!
